An important component of our program is assisting student athletes to secure the best scholarship arrangements available to them.
Often this involves promoting your combined academic and athletic ability to coaches and athletic directors, demonstrating what an asset you would be for their college or university.
USA college coaches have come to realise the advantages in recruiting Australian players, they see the work ethic and competitiveness combined with the ability to cooperate within a team environment. However, make no mistake, you are competing for scholarship dollars against the homegrown USA athlete.
There are many USA athletic scholarships on offer but obtaining one can be an involved and drawn out process – but this is where our expertise assists in putting you forward and minimising red tape.
Having excellent athletic ability can be part of the solution when deciding how to pay for your university education. Not having to pay an Australian HELP debt later on is certainly an advantage if you can secure an athletic and/or academic scholarship.
Get an early start
There are many colleges in the system so researching what may be the right fit for you is very important. Getting an early start can certainly help you, remembering that results are taken into account from year 10 so an early indication of interest then followed up when entering Year 11.
Keeping your Profile Up to Date
We help students in the preparation of a Student Athlete Profile. This is a presentation showcasing your athletic ability, academic record, previous results and experience, any community involvement and your other interests. It is extremely beneficial when applying for scholarship funding as we market from our coach contact database to colleges that may be the right fit for you.
Stay on top of the paperwork!
Applying for athletics scholarships involves quite a lot of paperwork e.g. applications, completing college questionnaires, replying to emails etc
You need to be systematic and stay on top of various contacts to show interest in the programs and keep you at the top of the respective coach’s recruiting list.
Keep Working on your Sport and School
Your academic results are important and will be reviewed by a coach as well as your sporting ability!
When enrolled at a college or university your academic results you need to maintain your academic standard to retain your scholarship. There will be an expected grade point average and colleges are fiercely proud of a high overall team grade point average.
At the same time you need to maintain your high level of sporting success and couple it with applied academic results to ensure you win the right scholarship at the college of your choice.
We do not pressure you in any area but will remind you of the need for an all round presentation to coaches so you get the best available offers for you.
